    Occupy Oakland uses black bloc tactics

    It’s weird, because I’m am pretty staunchly anti-violence, but when I watch this video, I also see all the other videos of peaceful protests over the last couple months in my head, and in all those, I just imagine the bank CEOs up in their offices laughing, while protestors get peppersprayed and beaten in the street. During this video, I imagine them up in their office, scared shitless, and I think “That might actually change something.” Then I try to imagine a “revolution” that has taken place peacefully. A time people changed something drastically with absolutely no violence what-so-ever, and I can’t think of one. I’m not sure where I stand on it, but part of me is glad at least it happened. Now we can look at it, and decide how to proceed.
