A new plant in Akron, Ohio plans to divert old bottles from landfills and churn out 80,000 barrels of oil a year. Read more.

Listen, this is great and all. I am ALL FOR recycling. I really am. But 80,000 barrels of oil a year? How much oil is going to be used in transporting these bottles from the dump to the plant? Americans use 18.7 million barrels of oil a DAY. This is a drop of fresh water into a very salty ocean. Let’s not kid ourselves.
